hi everyone and welcome to the inventors
0:03
launchpad and network
0:05
I am gonna snow your host for a
0:07
follow-up on the quirky Network I have
0:12
with me Stephanie Gomez he was at HSN
0:15
American Dreams Academy we ran into her
0:18
between the sessions that were going on
0:20
she had a really cool product and we
0:22
thought it would be fun to have her on
0:23
the show
0:24
hey Stephanie over there yes I am thank
0:28
you so much for having me in your show
0:29
today oh no problem at all I know that
0:32
we're probably up early like most
0:34
entrepreneurs we're out in the Sunshine
0:36
State so you're not like the rest of the
0:39
country in cold weather last night I
0:44
went to sleep at 4:30 got up at 7:30 a
0:48
bunch of reviewers have that schedule
0:50
too oh yeah yeah you worked the most and
0:54
get the lately sleep and get paid the
0:55
least but I wanted to kind of get into
1:02
you know talking about you that we met
1:05
you that was awesome but we were pretty
1:08
intrigued about your product and me and
1:09
the path that you took to get the
1:11
product made so why don't you tell
1:13
listeners a little bit about your
1:14
product the name of it and and what it
1:16
does and you said it's pretty
1:19
interesting great again thank you so
1:21
much for having us in the show and and
1:23
what we have is a product that helps
1:26
address the issue with mobility so a lot
1:29
of individuals that have mobility
1:30
they're restricted by the terrain around
1:32
them so they cannot venture easy on sand
1:34
grass gravel mud and even snow so when
1:39
you have a mobility issue balance issues
1:41
and you have a fear of falling so what
1:43
our product does our company is called
1:46
stabilized steps I'll just show you
1:48
really quick there and our product is a
1:52
patented I'll call it like a an
1:54
attachment or a medical device that
1:56
attaches to the bottom of Walker's
1:57
allowing the walkers the medical
2:00
Walker's to be stable on uneven surfaces
2:02
so sand the grass gravel mud and even
2:06
snow so what we really wanted to do is
2:09
really help individuals not be bound by
2:12
their turn like
2:13
limitation and be able to go outdoors
2:16
which changes live and I got to
2:18
experience that firsthand with my
2:20
grandfather as he started going outdoors
2:22
and he developed a depression because he
2:25
couldn't go outdoors and once he went
2:27
outdoors he was a new man so that's what
2:30
we want to do we want to really change
2:31
people's lives well that's an awesome
2:34
product first of all and it's great that
2:36
you're taking that on because even
2:38
myself when I when I'm stuck in the
2:40
house I'd go a little crazy now somebody
2:42
who can't get out or has an issue
2:44
getting out I can see that being a real
2:45
problem so you found that pain point
2:46
from your own experiences and you went
2:50
after the problem by fixing with that
2:52
pretty cool idea though I mean it was
2:55
something that you had to go through a
2:56
lot of iterations or a lot of R&D; work
2:58
to really get something to function the
3:00
way you wanted it oh yeah absolutely but
3:03
I do want to point out I am NOT the
3:05
inventor I'm the co-founder so I helped
3:07
redesign it so my business partner he is
3:10
a general contractor by trade and he was
3:12
doing some cabinets at a gentleman's
3:14
house here in Naples Florida and he said
3:17
hey man you been anything because I
3:19
looked to Naples to go to the beach but
3:22
I can't because my Walker stinks is
3:23
really really tall gentlemen have you
3:25
set and and he gave away because he had
3:28
a double hip replacement double knee
3:30
replacement so when you can't exercise
3:33
you just gain weight right so he
3:36
invented out of his grill the metal
3:39
plates that attach to the bottom of the
3:41
locker so we have first story in our
3:43
website but I'll show you that's done
3:45
right there you can see that they're
3:47
metal blades yeah so then three months
3:50
later John called on my partner Eric and
3:53
he said hey you changed my life I've
3:55
lost 30 pounds I'm able to take my
3:57
walker all the way in the ocean his wife
4:00
will remove the Walker when he was able
4:01
to float and he was now able to get in
4:04
the sand and Hughes they walk her to
4:06
climb back up because before he couldn't
4:09
do that change his life so he said Eric
4:12
said okay you know maybe I should patent
4:13
this because there's nothing like this
4:15
in the market but he went through the
4:16
process of the patent
4:18
in the patent done and he just said he
4:21
just had a hard time getting the great
4:23
idea
4:24
you know partnering with somebody and we
4:27
met when now is leading commercial
4:29
banking so he just I thought I was gonna
4:32
help him with this business plan and he
4:34
asked me if I would want to actually
4:35
create the company so instead of
4:37
licensing the product actually go
4:40
through the engineering and and
4:42
everything you know branding and
4:44
everything that we've done so far and I
4:48
just felt like God had a calling for me
4:50
to do that and I told my husband he
4:51
thought I was crazy so but he allowed me
4:54
to do it so I took out 20 credit cards
4:57
and I've been funding this the
5:00
development of the company so I feel
5:02
like we've had some key key people
5:04
coming to our path like our engineers
5:07
are actually we're forward engineers and
5:09
top-notch best in the company worldwide
5:13
and they actually helped us design the
5:16
product we gotta test it to withstand
5:18
500 pounds we made it where it was
5:21
simple to install so getting feedback
5:23
from the Medical Supply Store so
5:25
individuals that use Walker's we did
5:28
lots of 3d printing because that's how
5:30
you prove the concept or a trying to get
5:33
your design you try to build it I'm 3d
5:36
printed so you see it and then you go
5:39
back to the design board and lots of you
5:42
know those processes that took the low a
5:44
longer than I expected and then I went
5:47
on to find a manufacturer I really
5:49
wanted to make it like I wanted it the
5:51
romantic story I made in America which I
5:53
love it
5:55
but unfortunately I couldn't and it was
5:57
so hard I was about to go to China
5:59
myself and then I did everybody was like
6:03
you know don't do it you're gonna you're
6:05
gonna want to you're by yourself people
6:06
you know you and you don't have experts
6:09
around you so right before I decided
6:12
that I really was gonna end up going to
6:14
China
6:14
I met a company here in Naples Florida
6:16
during a so many fracture here but
6:19
they're a third party they have clients
6:21
nationwide they're like a hidden gem
6:23
here which I want to share with all the
6:25
inventors there of Naples Florida
6:27
and they have a medical division and
6:30
they have their ISO certified they have
6:32
like ISO 9001 and I forgot the other ISO
6:34
qualification and what that means is
6:36
they have really strict quality control
6:38
guidelines and so our product is
6:41
manufactured in China but I don't deal
6:43
with China directly I mean I do deal
6:45
with some because I communicate a lot
6:47
with the engineers but I I I told them
6:50
hey guys I'm going to be paying for my
6:52
molds and everything in 20 credit cards
6:54
they started taking credit cards so they
6:57
can take my payments and they've been
7:00
phenomenal yeah what a story that yeah
7:04
just from the beginning where you know
7:07
you kind of stumbled upon this person
7:09
needing help to where you are now and
7:12
everything in between that is an
7:14
unbelievable story of how you fell in
7:17
it's you know every time I we go through
7:22
you know we go through rough pads
7:23
whether the design goes wrong at the
7:26
beginning or something the material we
7:29
couldn't find the right material and
7:30
things like that that we're kind of like
7:33
hardships we always saw and we know that
7:35
really could put poop we believe put us
7:38
into this path with God and that's who
7:40
we really give the you know our our
7:43
energy for because when you look at both
7:46
of our lives he's 55 and I'm when I met
7:51
we were I was 26 and our packs are
7:54
completely different we had nobody that
7:57
we had in common the reason why we met
7:59
at is he was coming from a doctor's
8:01
visit and I was visiting up in them so I
8:06
thought was helping the front desk he
8:08
was checking out whatever his doctor's
8:10
appointment there's no way I mean when
8:14
we look back it just everything
8:16
everything that we have that our
8:19
engineers my husband's cousin and when
8:21
we showed him our product he shared with
8:23
us how they're wanting to help small
8:25
companies and they're actually use the
8:27
same software that Ford uses so again
8:30
everything along the path has been
8:33
unbelievable and I I love to share
8:36
stories so about helped entrepreneurs
8:39
here because I mean I went you're almost
8:41
two years now in this journey and that's
8:43
what
8:43
loved about the HSN Academy because
8:46
there's so much there's just so much to
8:48
do and and if you're by yourself if you
8:51
have a great idea you don't get to grasp
8:54
that until you have an issue or until
8:57
somebody tells you hey did you know you
8:59
that you have to XYZ you know or the
9:02
manufacturing part packaging labels
9:07
everything it's a it's quite a process
9:10
act I do believe they're on her team put
9:14
together a phenomenal lineup of speakers
9:17
and I've already gone through a lot of
9:19
that you know looking back I just
9:22
started kind of going to summits as a
9:25
few months ago one of them being the HSN
9:27
it would have probably seen you know uh
9:29
by the time but uh but I'm very grateful
9:33
just continue to learn and I don't know
9:37
it all so that's why I want to go to
9:40
this event to continue to learn and grow
9:43
yeah I mean that's great I mean being
9:45
able to say to yourself I don't know it
9:47
all is very important because I mean the
9:49
things that you've gone through you've
9:51
really experienced you do you believe
9:54
that if someone who just started the
9:56
process obviously you were pretty deep
9:57
into this someone who just started the
10:00
process the HSN Academy event would be
10:03
probably be so helpful helpful for them
10:06
early right yeah and I I left the
10:10
comment I mean I've paid I paid seminars
10:12
where you know those cops me thousands
10:14
of dollars just because of the power of
10:16
knowledge again I do my background is in
10:19
commercial banking my degrees are
10:20
finance and economics right but the
10:23
whole processes of creating a product
10:25
I'm great at execution but I know that
10:28
branding social media all that it's not
10:31
work you know my my strengths so I need
10:35
to surround myself with individuals so
10:36
no even for me that I'm pretty deep in
10:38
the process I was phenomenal but for
10:41
somebody who's just starting even in so
10:43
even more because it's taking that I
10:46
mean a lot of people when they heard of
10:48
what I was starting to do even my own
10:49
family they all thought I was crazy so I
10:51
didn't even talk to them about it
10:53
because I mean there
10:55
like well how you pay for this who's the
10:58
investor and I'm like look if I wait to
11:00
get an ambassador I just pitch idea to
11:03
to get some funding one of the great
11:07
things I learn in another summit I went
11:10
was like you know start with what you
11:11
have if you believe in the idea if you
11:13
believe in the product if you believe in
11:15
your service looking first of what you
11:17
have right credit cards and then they
11:20
mentioned the lien on the house so I
11:21
left that day and I'm like yeah back
11:22
what do you I do have anybody so let me
11:25
let me put a lien in my house and that
11:28
would be you know the cheapest route
11:29
right now so like I said it sounds very
11:34
scary and it sounds like oh my goodness
11:37
you know you're putting this risk out
11:39
there and I'm on what's the worst that
11:41
can happen you know if we don't take
11:44
risk out there I mean what's the worst
11:46
I'll go back and banking or something
11:48
and then pay off my debt but I'm not
11:51
gonna live without knowing what would
11:53
have happened if I didn't take that risk
11:55
right and a lot of this ideas a lot of
11:59
those risk takers are creating things
12:02
that are changing lives
12:03
I believe our product changes live it's
12:05
changing lives and will change millions
12:07
of lives so I said yes I'm gonna take
12:10
that risk and you know so far we had our
12:14
ups and downs but I think we now have a
12:17
phenomenal product really high quality
12:20
product but it doesn't come without its
12:22
risks so I do encourage if anybody's
12:24
listening that has an idea that they're
12:28
just kind of twin carrying I mean I'm
12:29
getting letters from people like there's
12:32
one lady's like oh I'm 80 years old but
12:34
I had this idea and I was taking care of
12:35
my aunt many many years ago I still
12:40
don't see it in the market
12:42
I would I would love if she would have
12:45
been able to go through this um and it's
12:47
never too late you know I think I'm a
12:50
young entrepreneur but I don't think
12:52
it's never too late to to create your
12:55
own your own path yeah well very well
12:58
said I I would 100% agree and you know a
13:02
lot of times and inventors or
13:03
entrepreneurs such as yourself you know
13:05
you think you're on an island where
13:07
you're the only one experienced and
13:08
those ups and
13:09
those issues and going to a point like
13:12
the HSN Academy really helps you realize
13:16
that you know you're not alone
13:17
there's people out there that can only
13:19
help you but you know there are other
13:20
people going through this name ups and
13:22
downs not that it makes it any better
13:23
but it makes you at least okay it's not
13:25
just me oh you know what I actually told
13:29
my husband because we just got inventory
13:32
so just the process of the logistics of
13:35
booking air freight from China to here I
13:38
went and my partner and I we we do we
13:41
try to save some money so we actually
13:42
link to Miami cargo area to pick up our
13:44
first pallet put it in his truck it's
13:48
been I mean so much going on that my
13:52
energy was actually pretty low because
13:54
I'd be not sleeping much it's just been
13:57
you know a whirlwind of things so I did
13:59
there I'm done driving there on Tuesday
14:02
my energy level was not as as I am right
14:05
now as I'm usually am I was just a
14:07
little bit tired excited cuz we haven't
14:10
been served but tired of how the process
14:12
was and I called my husband like I'm
14:15
like I really needed this to be here
14:17
because if you're now surrounded the
14:19
game you're like you're if something an
14:20
island if you're not surrounded now we
14:22
have we have our own Facebook group so
14:25
we're all sharing each other's ideas and
14:27
stories and I'm just to hear people that
14:29
have been like doing it for 10 years and
14:31
you know and then look back and I'm like
14:33
I feel like it's been forever but for me
14:36
it's only been 2 years for my partner
14:38
it's been nine years now because he
14:41
developed this in no.9 we met two years
14:43
ago yeah what about when I hear their
14:47
stories I mean just a the I was so
14:50
inspired I left inspired I left
14:53
motivated and again I don't think and a
14:57
lot of it was for me I've gone through
14:59
the process and like listening to Lou
15:02
talking about trying that right and when
15:05
he was sharing a lot of the story like
15:07
well his personal stories his
15:08
recommendations and I'm going like oh
15:11
yeah I'm doing yet oh yeah my
15:13
manufacturing has that it's really
15:15
assuring that I'm like okay yeah I am
15:18
not you know I'm not kind of doing
15:20
theirs and blind and
15:22
I've had great individuals around me so
15:24
even if you're already kind of like
15:27
getting your product in the market if at
15:29
all you kind of go see and realize okay
15:32
I have to have the steps you've taken
15:34
are they the right steps and then when
15:37
you talk about you know marketing with
15:41
just everything branding was amazing and
15:45
a poor guy everybody followed him even
15:47
to get a coffee I think he didn't get
15:49
stuck together and then we had having
15:59
Randy there it was also very inspiring
16:02
yeah
16:03
well it's funny that you say that with
16:04
with Roland come on to the show right
16:09
after he spoke and I had to go get him I
16:11
had to go grab him because he was
16:13
surrounded like you said but but the
16:16
marketing and branding is something that
16:18
is so needed you don't think about it
16:19
until me start talking about it then
16:21
what find out somebody that knows about
16:22
it you just grab them I'm not sure if
16:27
you got a chance to be there to listen
16:30
because I think they were broadcasting
16:31
it to one of the classes but he was able
16:34
to very quickly listen to somebody's
16:37
question or problem and just turn it
16:40
around and I think those old people were
16:42
like oh my goodness I have to ask you I
16:44
did I'm not I'm not gonna lie I just
16:46
thought I was the last stalker I happen
16:49
to go to the bathroom and I realized
16:52
that he was leaking out coming out and I
16:55
ran after him and I said before you
17:02
committed
17:03
rolling was phenomenal immediately you
17:05
know I friended him on Facebook on
17:08
Instagram to follow every speaker really
17:12
LinkedIn it's just you have now
17:17
individuals in your life that whether
17:19
they're indirectly mentoring me right
17:23
because of the content they're putting
17:25
out on their social media I didn't have
17:28
them in my network before so now I get
17:32
to really learn from them
17:35
from how they're working learning how
17:38
they're seeing things from being the
17:40
speaker and then connecting afterwards
17:42
no it's awesome yeah and that's exactly
17:46
what's supposed to happen at that event
17:47
the speakers are all great and they're
17:50
open to speak with you afterwards they
17:52
talk to you afterwards they've got email
17:53
connection and HSN is awesome because
17:55
looking for products that's what's so
17:57
great about it they're not forcing
17:59
people saying hey you don't have a good
18:00
product cuz it doesn't go on HSN but
18:02
they're just helping and if a product
18:04
fit onto the HSN market then they're and
18:06
they're just happy to be able to help
18:08
I'm in quark same way quark he's doing
18:10
an awesome job on setting that up the
18:13
whole logistics of it is in C you're
18:14
covering a lot of that which is awesome
18:16
so being a sponsor is good so I'm a very
18:21
analytical person and I'm a little bit
18:24
skeptical sometimes so when you're when
18:27
I've already paid thousands of dollars
18:28
and other seminars before I was like
18:31
okay what's what's the catch I was kind
18:35
of waiting those whole time and I'm like
18:36
what's the catch when are they like what
18:40
I was kind of waiting the whole time and
18:41
there is like no you know this is really
18:44
truly - and I think I see them as a
18:48
win-win they're getting - I love win-win
18:50
relationships because that's what helps
18:53
the community move forward when you have
18:55
when lose and either side then somebody
18:57
leaves disappointed so I feel a great
19:00
opportunity for them to see great
19:02
products but at the same time the value
19:05
that they left each one of those 85
19:07
percent defense was invaluable and plus
19:10
not only them but I'm sharing that with
19:12
my network I'm putting their stories I
19:14
am sharing the individuals that although
19:17
I mean just a value with my team I came
19:21
back with notes and um so yeah you
19:24
individuals were present but there were
19:26
85 families companies networks of
19:28
families so I was blown away by by their
19:32
investment in the community honestly I
19:35
see it as an investment I do see it as a
19:37
great opportunity to for them to see
19:38
products because they don't know maybe
19:41
out of 85 maybe only one for them you
19:45
know maybe more but but
19:48
end of the day the value that each of
19:50
those individuals got it I think it's
19:51
tremendous good well I'm glad I'm glad
19:55
you appreciate they actually I spoke all
19:58
of Dera I spoke with Randy I spoke with
20:00
Waldo from quirky also some of the
20:03
professor's from the USA and they were
20:05
so in awe of the quality of not only the
20:09
product and the presenters but you know
20:11
the the different spectrums of how many
20:14
of they're all in different phases of
20:16
their product development so what's
20:17
weird is you know we go there and say
20:19
man we learning so much but they have
20:21
fun too that's what's great about it
20:24
I surely saw that I think and that was
20:29
another thing I was like you know here
20:32
we are these executives coming along and
20:35
you know a lot of people in other events
20:38
they just coming though they're booked
20:39
for whatever time but never stayed after
20:42
to have questions we either you know
20:45
hanging out with us during lunch time
20:47
they were genuinely wanting to make a
20:52
difference and they know they're making
20:53
a difference and I think that's and I
20:57
see it even for me I'm not I'm not a big
20:59
influencer yet like they are but I I get
21:02
a lot of empowerment when I help other
21:05
individuals so I feel that and it's so
21:08
great to find individuals that do that
21:11
like people tell me like you should just
21:12
charge what you're doing you know
21:15
because now I know now I can I can
21:17
literally not have people coming to me
21:19
and I I give my whole team I've I've had
21:21
company that I just here's my person
21:24
here's my marketing is my designer
21:25
here's my metric go fine you can do the
21:27
same thing here's my whole team
21:29
mallesh yeah yeah and because if you
21:33
have other people around you that's the
21:36
bed of the community I built I believe
21:38
that this when I was in command
21:40
commercial banking and I'd uh but with
21:43
companies from two and a half million
21:44
revenues to 50 and then I moved to
21:46
another position that it was startup 220
21:48
half million it doesn't matter if they
21:50
had 50 employees or they only had two I
21:53
was like you are responsible for
21:55
somebody's household you are feeding
21:58
families I find that just so
22:02
just such a honorable position at the
22:04
small business owner to hire individuals
22:07
so I got really excited when I was able
22:09
to hire my first part-time and I was
22:11
like now I'm in that position where I'm
22:13
providing and I don't take it lightly I
22:17
don't think it little that's great
22:19
that's really awesome and it's a great
22:20
way to look at it too because it's kind
22:22
of inspiring the way you let you put it
22:23
because you really are now the decisions
22:26
that you make will trickle down to
22:27
everyone within the company and then
22:29
their families and so on so that's
22:31
pretty cool put it on real quick we're
22:33
kind of we're kind of run out of time
22:35
right I do want you to let our listeners
22:37
know how not only can they look at your
22:40
product they can follow it or obviously
22:42
purchase it absolutely well before we go
22:47
then I'll just show you our product does
22:48
come preassembled we have big boxes here
22:52
so we have a humble office that it's
22:55
really meant for two people but we fit
22:56
like six in here reassemble Wow yeah all
23:03
the user has to do is remove it from the
23:05
packaging and take out the old legs from
23:07
their Walker and put our product super
23:09
simple it is engineered to really
23:12
transfer the 500 pounds of weight which
23:14
is what's cool about it just learning
23:16
the engineering the nylon pads of the
23:18
bottom allow for better tracking on
23:20
outdoor areas but when you do bring it
23:23
indoors they actually help for gliding
23:25
so you can actually glide on smooth
23:27
surfaces like tile marble wood so it's
23:31
really cool so it's versatile indoor and
23:33
outdoor and they just go to our website
23:36
stable I stepped on so I'm gonna put it
23:38
right here there we go you can call us
23:41
follow us on facebook instagram at
23:45
stable eye steps comm if you want if you
23:48
can help us spread the word we're now in
23:49
the part of awareness we have a new
23:52
product segment people don't know they
23:54
need but once they do they're gonna know
23:56
that it's can change their lives awesome
23:59
most definitely it's an awesome product
24:00:00
that they really look solid I mean you
24:02:00
were talking about it I I was trying to
24:04:00
imagine it but it looks like a solid
24:06:00
product there oh yeah I mean well
24:09:00
because I'm dealing with Walker so there
24:11:00
are some products that you can get away
24:12:00
with don't make it
24:14:00
you know telling the story of the iPhone
24:16:00
right just take one out and then you can
24:18:00
go to the next your next version but I
24:21:00
couldn't afford that I mean we have a
24:24:00
lot of upgrades are we gonna do but the
24:27:00
first product had to be really high
24:30:00
quality because we are messing with
24:31:00
people's eyes right you know we're
24:34:00
helping prevent Falls so we cannot have
24:35:00
a product so we're not guessing in the
24:37:00
material our material was really defined
24:39:00
by the testing everything that we're
24:43:00
doing that's what made it even harder so
24:44:00
we were now like oh sure let's try this
24:46:00
plastic see how it goes and no we were
24:48:00
very specific on the stress levels that
24:51:00
he can hold things like our drainage
24:53:00
system so if you if you're in your clear
24:55:00
water I mean Ebola so people go to the
24:57:00
beach so he doesn't have suction right
24:59:00
easy to replace the pads are replaceable
25:02:00
so we made them very easy to replace
25:03:00
things like that that may not from from
25:07:00
the naked eye we can see all the time we
25:09:00
spent on it but it was definitely a long
25:11:00
time yeah no no it looks like a great
25:15:00
product and what I love about it good
25:17:00
product but it's like you said it's
25:19:00
helping people it's gonna change their
25:20:00
lives so alert motivation Stephanie
25:24:00

25:26:00
show this morning I am I'm hoping to
25:29:00

25:30:00
in the Florida area obviously as you
25:32:00

25:33:00
your product and I obviously all around
25:35:00
the world but it's really cool and I
25:38:00

25:58:00
when you're putting out there for
26:00:00
inventors and entrepreneurs is it's
26:03:00
really awesome that they have a place
26:05:00
that they can come and listen to well
26:06:00
thank you we appreciate that and we'll
26:08:00
keep it up and we'll do as much as we
