0:01
hi everyone and welcome to the inventors
0:04
Launchpad Network I am a common dennis
0:07
co your host for today's show and with
0:10
me I have an awesome guest I mean she
0:12
does so much out there for not for the
0:15
not only for inventors alone for
0:17
entrepreneurs for product developers for
0:19
getting products out in the market and
0:21
getting a lot of eyeballs on her her
0:24
name is Christina Davis and I have her
0:25
on the line now hey Christina over there
0:27
hey how's it going up there and a great
0:30
cold north
0:36
yeah well not very good that's the way
0:39
to do it you know your mind over mine
0:41
matter mind control hasn't been warmer
0:45
and warming up at all yeah it's not too
0:47
bad I actually I last week we had two 80
0:50
degree days and I took my laptop and I
0:53
sat outside and I got a little sunburn
0:55
like how do you get sunburned in DC in
0:57
February like that's unheard of think
1:04
about sunscreen it's that's crazy so
1:09
what's been going on up there I know
1:10
you've been doing some traveling I know
1:11
that you have a lot of different
1:13
projects going on have you been on I
1:15
know that you host a show up in DC how's
1:17
it going yeah it's great so I do it
1:19
about once a month I saw a good morning
1:21
Washington they love to see cool
1:24
products and they love the stories of
1:27
the inventors so I'm always looking
1:29
there's no charge it's I just want to
1:33
put cool products out there so if
1:34
anybody's watching this you can just
1:36
email me a link Christina at PR for
1:39
anyone calm the only thing is it can't
1:41
be in crowdfunding and it has to be
1:44
available for sale because if I'm
1:46
putting on the show people are gonna
1:47
want to buy it and it has to be
1:50
something that I can demonstrate on air
1:52
you know it can't so many people send me
1:55
things you know that's like the size of
1:57
a house and like okay I can't pull that
1:58
in the studio that's not gonna work or
2:01
you know they send me things that are
2:03
you know think of as seen on TV gadgets
2:07
and I'm doing a really fun personal care
2:10
one next week and I was joking with my
2:12
daughter I'll be shave
2:13
my legs washing my face and curling my
2:15
hair all on live television it's gonna
2:19
be a doozy to see this one
2:20
that is so funny and I mean it must be
2:24
so much fun to do something like that
2:26
because not only are you bringing
2:27
products you get on the air and you get
2:29
to show them off but you're really
2:30
helping not only sell a product but
2:32
you're helping the inventors it's
2:33
probably a lot of fun to do I always
2:37
love the story I just did a product last
2:39
time where this this gentleman invented
2:43
a kitchen product a kitchen gadget but
2:45
he invented it because he lost his job
2:46
they have four kids or they have four
2:49
kids the stove broke and the only way
2:51
they could feed their kids was in their
2:52
toaster so we invented a product so they
2:54
could make more than just toaster bagels
2:57
actually make a meal you know rolled up
3:00
in something like a tortilla or
3:02
something like that and stick it in the
3:03
toaster and make it so the story see the
3:06
stories are really fun and I love
3:08
because everybody has a why anybody who
3:10
invented a product there's a reason you
3:13
invented that and there's you have to
3:15
have an incredible passion to go through
3:17
with it
3:18
you know ideas are a dime a dozen but
3:20
for you to take that idea from here to
3:23
make a product and go to sell it you
3:26
believe in that and there's a reason you
3:28
do and that's what I like to get out of
3:30
the inventors and and share with the
3:31
world
3:32
yeah the stories are sometimes
3:34
mind-boggling like even that I mean
3:36
talking about ease feet in this family
3:38
using a toaster and developed a product
3:40
I mean that's intuitive I mean that's
3:42
pretty cool
3:43
I love it one of my favorite favorite
3:46
invention stories does it seem like when
3:48
you're doing the products on there and
3:50
and I don't want to spend too much
3:51
someone sex so much other questions to
3:53
ask you but I love the TV side of the
3:55
inventions because that's what all the
3:57
inventors are looking for they're
3:58
looking for those eyeballs they're
3:59
looking for a way to get you know they
4:01
have this product and it's cool but they
4:02
don't know how to tell everyone does it
4:05
seem like they the cast and the crew and
4:08
all the people when you bring these
4:10
products in there they all like that's
4:11
really cool that one's cool I mean does
4:13
it seem like they gather in they do
4:15
because because you're in most people
4:18
haven't been in a TV studio but this
4:19
like broken up in little sections so
4:21
they're getting ready for the next
4:22
section the cameras there they're there
4:24
so they're all watching us it's like you
4:26
audience look that's awesome and
4:28
sometimes you can even hear them in the
4:29
background but yeah they love when I
4:32
bring the gadgets on yeah it seems like
4:34
the inventions and the products and the
4:36
new stuff that no one's seen always
4:38
bring a crowd and it doesn't matter it
4:40
could be like a superstar you know I've
4:42
had people you know that are on
4:43
television all the time they're in
4:44
movies and they see this product and
4:46
they also they start acting like a
4:47
little kid yet I got so now people start
4:50
sending me stuff all the time
4:52
so there's one I can't wait to do it's
4:54
and I haven't tested it yet I haven't
4:55
gotten a sample but it's a hard boiled
4:57
egg peeler like how brilliant is that
5:00
because how hard you know you go to peel
5:02
it and then sometimes it sticks if you
5:04
lose half the egg so this works it's
5:06
gonna be awesome
5:07
wow that is pretty cool I mean it works
5:14
I love it I love I was talking I was
5:16
talking with a guy yesterday and and he
5:18
has a magnetic levitation device that he
5:20
developed like in the 80s and and you
5:22
know it's just unbelievable the stuff
5:24
that comes in it could be these little
5:25
things like that to the world changing
5:28
products you just never know what
5:29
somebody's gonna send you that's good
5:34
that's awesome yeah it's gotta be fun
5:37
and I love it because you really are
5:39
helping the inventors like the gentleman
5:41
that lost his job and if you can
5:42
actually get that product and get some
5:44
eyeballs on it you know it's really
5:46
gonna help out does that seem like the
5:48
biggest thing that that you're able to
5:50
help the inventors with is is really get
5:52
the people that that could either buy it
5:54
or invest or whatever get some get two
5:57
people to see it well it's not just the
5:59
TV part it's the you know getting the
6:02
visibility in general you know using
6:05
social media to your best advantage
6:07
people don't realize how important that
6:11
visibility is you know how important
6:14
learning what your hashtags are because
6:16
when you're on Instagram and Twitter
6:18
people are searching those hashtags and
6:21
if you're not using them I mean
6:23
Twitter's are no easy place that's how
6:26
you that's how you make it more quiet
6:27
that's how you get people to find you so
6:30
just little things like that Facebook
6:32
live is the hottest thing going right
6:34
now we might do another interview next
6:35
month and it's going to be something
6:37
completely different but if you
6:39
want to get eyeballs on your business
6:41
and I'll tell you a quick funny story I
6:43
used to own a retail store and I still
6:46
shop there all the time the owners my
6:48
best friend and so I had bought a bunch
6:50
of stuff from her and she hadn't even
6:51
priced it yet like I bought it out of
6:53
the box so she's like let's just meet
6:54
for a glass of wine and you can help me
6:56
with some marketing stuff so make sure
6:57
so she brings my stuff and we're sitting
6:59
outside and she's like what do I do to
7:01
get more customers in the door and I
7:02
said you have to do Facebook live and
7:04
she's like I'm not gonna do Facebook
7:05
live yes I wish you guys knew Barbara
7:07
she's like I'm not doing it and this is
7:10
the end of the day she works all day
7:11
she's always playing with her hair she's
7:13
a mess you know it's the best friend I
7:15
can say this I like we're gonna go live
7:17
she's like I'm not doing it so I grabbed
7:19
her phone we go live and I start pulling
7:21
my clothes out of the bag oh my god look
7:23
what I bought today look at this cute
7:25
poncho look at these shoes look at these
7:26
hearings I'm going through everything we
7:28
had 7,000 people see that video on day
7:33
one so and she was like are you freaking
7:37
kidding me
7:37
day one we didn't boost it we do
7:40
anything people loved it they started
7:41
sharing it with their friends and you
7:43
know and then they're like oh my gosh I
7:45
need that I want that she does Facebook
7:47
lives all the time now oh and after that
7:49
one she grew her business 20% 20% in one
7:53
month so now she does him all the time
7:55
and she will sell out of a product with
7:58
people holding it on Facebook live so if
8:01
you are an inventor and you want to get
8:03
eyeballs on your business you have got
8:06
to turn this on as uncomfortable as it
8:08
may be and like I said her first couple
8:11
videos were not good they were not you
8:14
know but now she's more comfortable and
8:16
I talked about my first video I read on
8:18
stickies like this all around my laptop
8:21
I do this like it's nothing and I'm on
8:24
TV I never would have guessed that so
8:26
muscle memory practice but if you want
8:29
to get eyeballs on your invention turn
8:31
on your camera and why that's some great
8:36
advice I mean and I more and more I've
8:38
been seeing like I'll have my phone will
8:39
send and something will pop up you know
8:41
whatever is live and and I'll look at it
8:43
exactly exactly and then you can tell
8:47
your story and people get to know you
8:49
and they you know and ask them do you
8:51
know anybody with
8:52
this product share it with them so you
8:54
have this ability to connect with so
8:57
many people but you've got to learn how
8:59
to do all this stuff and that that's
9:01
what I do is you know help you with the
9:04
strategy to to get your product out you
9:07
know I just talked to a person
9:09
yesterday's a jewelry designer the guy's
9:11
won like ten of the last twelve years
9:14
he's been the national jewelry designer
9:17
like first place
9:18
nobody knows so I'm like well have you
9:21
ever been in a gift guide have you ever
9:22
he's like no what's that like
9:26
so inventors are gift guides out there
9:28
that you can you know try to get your
9:30
product in so there's so many things
9:32
that I didn't realize people don't know
9:35
you guys are inventing a great product
9:37
within the next step is the marketing
9:39
part of it so that's that's what I love
9:42
to help you with well I mean the good
9:44
part is is that I believe that inventor
9:47
is private business owners like your
9:49
friend Marv
9:50
they're so bombarded even myself that
9:53
they don't know really where to start
9:54
they don't know what to do because they
9:56
think they have to do everything like
9:57
there's Facebook and LinkedIn and and
10:00
Twitter and snapchat and Instagram you
10:02
know they're saying I can't do all of
10:04
them so they choose none of them right I
10:07
always say do one thing and you're
10:10
really really well and when and I just
10:13
started Instagram this year 2018 because
10:15
I wasn't ready to do it and then I
10:18
started out and I wasn't doing it well
10:20
now I have a plan now I have a strategy
10:22
you know we do certain things on Mondays
10:24
I do Wednesday wisdoms and then in
10:26
between I filter in my personal stuff
10:28
and now my following is really starting
10:31
to grow I've looked into my hashtag so
10:34
I'm using the right hashtags when I do
10:36
stuff but I wasn't ready for that and
10:39
I've been doing this stuff for years
10:40
guys so don't beat yourself up if you
10:42
like Facebook do Facebook if you like
10:44
Instagram do Instagram I think everybody
10:47
should be on LinkedIn no matter what you
10:49
get your profile together and then you
10:51
don't have to post all the time if
10:52
that's not a place you're comfortable
10:54
but if somebody checks you out the first
10:57
thing that's gonna come it up is
10:58
LinkedIn because of their Google juice
11:00
because of their SEO so you always want
11:03
to have a good strong profile because
11:04
you
11:05
now if a buyer is gonna look you'd be
11:07
looking for something and if you pop up
11:09
and let's just say you have inventor on
11:12
there and that's it not your product
11:13
no video so I would invest the time to
11:17
have a good LinkedIn profile and then
11:19
leave it if you need to leave it and go
11:21
work on the one you like but just focus
11:24
on one and and I know that this is kind
11:29
of the things that you do for people is
11:30
it just for for for larger businesses or
11:33
now you just started the PR for anyone
11:35
is that correct no I don't care for
11:37
anyone's been around for five years I
11:40
just started a new program called
11:42
visibility VIPs found is people buy
11:47
these digital programs and they have a
11:49
question well there's nobody to ask a
11:51
question to even if there's a Facebook
11:53
group there's nobody to ask a question
11:55
to so what I decided to do is create a
11:57
program that's basically access to me I
12:00
do trainings matter of fact right before
12:02
we did this I just recorded a whole slew
12:05
of content ideas for April for people
12:07
and then pitching ideas for you know
12:10
when you pitch certain people there's
12:12
there's pitching time so that'll all
12:13
drop in the program on the first but
12:17
there's so there's trainings like that I
12:18
bring experts in I'm Eric we just had
12:21
somebody who did LinkedIn profiles she
12:23
spent an hour over an hour unbelievable
12:26
but that's in there so that recording is
12:28
in there so you can go do it I do live
12:30
Q&A; si always there to answer questions
12:33
like I said I bring guests on I do
12:35
quarterly assessments so let's check out
12:37
your website let's check out your social
12:39
media let's see you know what you can do
12:41
to fix it so if if you need if you need
12:45
a program where you can ask somebody and
12:46
I don't think we've been talked about it
12:47
but I am an inventor I invented a
12:49
product so I've done all this this is
12:52
why I learned how to do this is because
12:53
I got really good at it because I had to
12:55
show my product visibility bi peace calm
13:00
and it's a monthly you can stop any time
13:03
you want but it's just there's lots and
13:05
lots of really good information in there
13:07
and like I said access to me 24/7 except
13:10
when I'm sleeping well and I'm sure
13:14
while you're sleeping you're somehow
13:15
thinking about help
13:17
but any you listen is out there that's
13:20
correct i mean christine has an awesome
13:22
product we spoke about it on some
13:26
previous episodes it's basically it's a
13:29
medical product a boot cover right
13:31
Christine boots yeah it's really cool
13:35
and and I mean we'll talk about later or
13:39
go back to Lindsay episodes the way that
13:40
she got the idea out there and stuff is
13:43
just awesome
13:43
but the but what I do want to talk about
13:46
is is the visibility what I think that
13:49
what I do and we talked about this in
13:51
before start recording is I shy away
13:53
from things that I don't know how to do
13:55
and I think that with your new service
13:59
being able to give the people or the
14:02
inventors or the entrepreneurs education
14:04
on the right way to do things they won't
14:05
feel like they're wasting time so it's
14:07
well worth the training that you're
14:09
offering and it can be I mean if you
14:12
come on the q and A's and the people who
14:14
were in there I will go above and beyond
14:16
for them like I had a designer who
14:19
wanted to pitch Oprah Magazine and she's
14:21
like who would I pitch well I knew
14:22
exactly who to pitch so I gave her the
14:24
contacts and his assistant so she knew
14:27
the right person to follow up with so
14:29
that's the thing if you if you engage
14:30
and you're involved I will do this stuff
14:32
for you you have a product you're like
14:34
oh how you know how do I pitch the gift
14:36
guide of InStyle magazine I can help you
14:40
with that that's you know that's what
14:42
I'm good at
14:42
and I'll give you those contacts and
14:44
I'll help you you know there's pitches
14:46
in there how do you pitch those I even
14:48
think there's a how to pitch the gift
14:49
guide in there but it's all there's so
14:53
many resources and if it's not there I
14:55
have to do is ask I'll do a quick video
14:57
for you that's not a problem
14:59
unbelievable the thing about the thing
15:01
about it is is that you're giving them
15:04
knowledge you know again people shy away
15:05
from it even if you hooked them up you
15:07
say hey or call this person they still
15:09
need to know what to say they need to be
15:10
and that's what you do like you have
15:12
that information because you've done it
15:14
before
15:14
you've been doing it you're on the air
15:16
you have the connections it's just that
15:18
a lot of people are scared T you know
15:20
it's one of those things you dial the
15:21
phone and you hope that their voicemail
15:23
picks up cuz you don't have to say oh
15:25
the first time I called my NBC I had no
15:28
soul
15:28
in my mouth I'm like hi this is
15:31
Christina I was and of course I didn't
15:34
get on it was awful but it's practice
15:37
practice practice that's why I always
15:38
say start local you know though your
15:41
local media loves to write about
15:43
somebody like you who's invented a
15:45
product that's so easy that's the
15:47
easiest story you'll ever get covered so
15:49
be nervous on that one because they're
15:52
going to cover you I you know I'm 95%
15:54
sure they're gonna cover you because
15:56
that's a great story for them yeah
15:59
Benner creates blah blah they love that
16:03
it seems like people or inventors or
16:07
entrepreneurs they just don't have the
16:09
faith that what they are doing or what
16:11
is interesting or that people are gonna
16:13
care but they do as you said people are
16:16
really interested in small business to
16:18
stories about inventions so if you can
16:20
get it out there in the correct way
16:22
people are more apt to to bring it on
16:25
and it is it's the story always remember
16:28
that you're gonna get the publicity but
16:31
you need to make it valuable to the
16:33
audience whether they're viewers or
16:35
readers and I always say put yourself in
16:38
that place when you're reading a
16:40
magazine you don't want to see oh me me
16:43
me me me me me me me me me you wanna you
16:45
know you want to read something that's
16:46
interesting you'll get all the benefit
16:49
about people learning about your product
16:50
but tell your story tell your why that's
16:53
what's really interesting yeah does it
16:56
and it is hard I mean is that some of
16:58
the kind of stuff you do I mean even
16:59
myself or an inventor they are so mostly
17:02
attached that they seem like you know
17:04
you just keep going and going you're
17:05
like I'm gonna tell this story until you
17:07
say yes and I teach that too how you you
17:13
get this list of core journalists and
17:15
you stay in front of them every single
17:17
month give them a dip but it with a
17:19
different type of pitch and we work on
17:21
all that how do you make yourself
17:22
newsworthy every single month so that
17:25
you are front of mind to them so then if
17:28
you know if you were doing that carmine
17:30
and then somebody who decided to write a
17:31
story about inventors you know Carmen
17:33
pitching me stuff you know this is what
17:36
he does I'm gonna call him real quick
17:38
and get a quote from him oh I saw so you
17:41
I see
17:42
so you're basically saying just stay on
17:44
their mind don't annoy them in case they
17:47
need you and they don't care if you're
17:49
pitching good quality stories they don't
17:52
care that you're pitching them once a
17:54
month just don't send the same one over
17:56
and over again and remember it all has
18:00
to fit in a box of what they're doing
18:02
and it's so funny now that I'm on the
18:03
other ends now that I have this segment
18:05
so I'll put something out there and I'll
18:07
get you know 200 products and maybe a
18:10
hundred that are like oh this is awesome
18:12
but then I have to pick seven that fit
18:15
in a story board that tell the story so
18:18
I've got 93 products left that are
18:20
awesome that are in a folder for like
18:23
the egg peeler it's like when can I use
18:26
that when can I do like an all breakfast
18:28
segment maybe and just like other one
18:30
I'm doing next week is all bathroom
18:32
stuff you know it's razors and like I
18:34
said I'm doing something with my face
18:36
and curling my hair and it's all
18:38
personal care so yeah that's gonna be
18:39
funny by the time I get out of there but
18:44
it has to fit in a story so don't get
18:46
frustrated if you've got a good product
18:48
and you've got a good pitch keep sending
18:50
it in
18:51
yeah and I'm so glad you said that
18:54
because even here at the launch pad we
18:56
get people or inventors that are get so
18:58
discouraged because the first one or two
19:00
people they sent their product to they
19:02
they didn't take it and I say it's not
19:04
that you don't get a product it's got to
19:05
fit in to what they're doing it's their
19:07
category into the story and you know I'm
19:09
so glad that you mentioned that because
19:11
you probably have inventors that just
19:12
get so down for just because of one
19:15
person right and you can't it's funny
19:17
I'm actually I'll put this out there and
19:20
tell you guys I'm trying to take what
19:22
I'm doing on good morning Washington to
19:23
a different level because I really love
19:24
the whole TV thing
19:25
so I've literally sent my reel out to
19:29
and I can look at my list it's probably
19:30
a hundred talent agents a hundred I
19:33
heard back from one yeah I'm like okay
19:36
it's good I just did this in the last
19:37
week so I'm sure they're busy and it
19:39
takes time but it you have to put
19:42
yourself out there you're never gonna
19:43
get what you want you have to and you
19:45
can't get discouraged
19:47
I just believe it's a not now like
19:49
things will happen I don't know if I
19:52
told the story on the last one but I
19:55
was on the last round to get on shark
19:57
tank and season two and I mean the
20:00
producers love me I joke Mark Burnett
20:02
loves me but that's the next step like
20:03
his team did and ABC Sony turned it down
20:06
because they had a product for regular
20:09
boots in season one and they thought it
20:11
was too and at that time they're only
20:12
putting on like ten people a season I
20:15
cried and I'm not kidding you for three
20:18
days and I'm like no there's something
20:21
better but I wanted to be on Shark Tank
20:23
more than anything in the world and then
20:26
I had five horrible months like nothing
20:29
panned out nobody wanted to meet with me
20:31
nobody wanted to carry my product I
20:33
couldn't get in any media and I remember
20:36
sitting in my computer it was a Tuesday
20:37
and I'm like I'm crying no I'm like what
20:43
else can I do like I was at rock bottom
20:45
like I'm ready to run out of money
20:47
I didn't know what I was gonna do I woke
20:49
up the next morning there was an email
20:51
from The Steve Harvey Show and they said
20:53
we're doing an inventor's program we'd
20:55
like to talk to you and it went all day
20:57
I had all these interviews and at the
20:59
end of the day they invited me to come
21:00
on the show I ended up winning his
21:02
inventors competition I won $20,000
21:05
which was the boost I needed to get out
21:07
of debt and that changed everything so
21:10
when you get that down I promise there's
21:13
something around the corner and I've
21:15
been there I've lived it so you know you
21:18
know how would a great story I'm like I
21:21
was I had all these things and I just
21:23
said Wow but but that's why I think that
21:27
your clients and the people that sign up
21:30
and that work with you you you've done
21:34
it just like you said I mean you're this
21:35
this is what you do it's not like you
21:37
know you woke up tomorrow said I'm gonna
21:38
work with inventors you know I mean
21:40
you've been doing this you in the
21:41
trenches develop products manufacturing
21:43
selling and you know what it really
21:45
takes and I think that's why you know
21:49
you're so good obviously you're good at
21:51
you're good at what you do but I think
21:52
that's why that little bit it really
21:54
helps get everybody over the top I mean
21:56
I've talked to some people that have
21:57
worked with you and they just they just
21:59
in awe of the things that you can do oh
22:01
you're sweet thank you you have to you
22:04
got it and you've got to work hard
22:06
should I tell people too
22:07
there's no magic pill you don't get to
22:09
invent a product and I don't believe
22:11
these people who are like you know those
22:13
I mean you've got a couple things that
22:15
you know we'll take off but most of us
22:17
my husband gave me a little sign that
22:20
says overnight success takes 15 years
22:22
and it's true it's you know you got to
22:26
work but you obviously minted the
22:28
product for a reason you loved it you're
22:30
passionate about it so just let's just
22:32
keep going let's get it out there yeah
22:35
yeah I love that saying because a lot of
22:37
people say you know the overnights and
22:39
overnights I say no it's just you heard
22:41
about it overnight they've been working
22:42
on it for a long time I think about the
22:45
croc story I mean she worked for a year
22:48
or the jib it's not the Crocs with the
22:49
jib it's years and years and years and
22:52
then it was a fluke that you know the
22:55
founder of Crocs happened to be at the
22:57
pool and saw her daughter who was there
22:59
with a friend and you know the rest is
23:01
history but but she was not an overnight
23:05
thing that woman worked really hard for
23:07
a long time and got a ton of knows from
23:10
Crocs company yeah yeah and if it's like
23:15
you said if it's meant to be the oddest
23:17
things I mean you probably have heard
23:18
some crazy stories on how people got
23:21
their products on the store and how they
23:23
how they've got it into retail I mean
23:24
the weirdest things seem to happen yeah
23:27
but but it's because you're working
23:30
working working working so you have all
23:32
these that didn't work and then this one
23:33
weird thing did work but you know if you
23:36
only put one thing out there you might
23:39
not have success but if you like I said
23:42
I just sent a hundred emails out you
23:45
know submissions out I'm hoping for one
23:47
that's what I'm looking for
23:49
exactly and being ready that when that
23:52
chance does arrive you're ready to go
23:54
and that's kind of you know again what
23:56
you do you you get these entrepreneurs
you get these inventors they're ready to
23:59
go they're doing the right thing because
24:01:00
you have to have all the information you
24:03:00
have to do the right thing
24:05:00
one of my favorite products that I got
24:08:00
my husband off of Shark Tank our running
24:11:00
lights that go on your shoes because he
24:13:00
exercises when it's dark in the morning
24:15:00
and I'm like I want you know your dark I
24:16:00
want people to be able to see you so
24:18:00
loved this products told my girlfriend
24:20:00
about it
24:20:00
this summer and they were on GMA and I
24:24:00
was like Oh Jen they were just you know
24:26:00
it's a special on GMA their website
24:28:00
crashed they couldn't handle the traffic
24:30:00
so first thing I would tell anybody if
24:33:00
you have an opportunity like that you've
24:34:00
got to ramp
24:35:00
everything up you've got a ramp up your
24:37:00
production cuz that's the other thing
24:38:00
you want to be sold out for six months
24:40:00
people are gonna be so mad at you so
24:43:00
you've got it you know your website has
24:45:00
to be able to handle it so yes that's
24:46:00
the kind of stuff we get you get you to
24:49:00
the big thing and get you ready for the
24:50:00
big thing because that I'm sure that
24:52:00
killed their business well I'm Nev a
24:55:00
lifetime and they couldn't fill any
24:56:00
orders and she finally gave up she's
24:57:00
like forget it I'm not gonna order it
24:59:00
there you go that's that's exactly what
25:01:00
happened and if she did that and
25:03:00
thousands of people probably do the same
25:05:00
thing is that is that something they do
25:07:00
hey listen I I'm looking to get on a
25:09:00
show I'm looking at into retail or hey
25:11:00
good morning American called me because
25:13:00
do you know what should I do is that
25:14:00
stuff did you do absolutely because
25:16:00
there are things that we will help you
25:18:00
put in place to make sure that your
25:21:00
website is ready for orders and we have
25:23:00
people if you don't have people I've got
25:24:00
people I can refer you to that can get
25:26:00
that ready for you because like I said
25:29:00
this is my girlfriend who's seen the
25:31:00
product touch the product love the
25:32:00
product and gave up so people who are
25:35:00
only watching it who think oh yeah maybe
25:37:00
this is cool
25:38:00
so yeah you've got to be ready when the
25:41:00
opportunity comes I gotta be crazy to
25:44:00
hear those stories because you try your
25:45:00
whole you could do for 10 years to get I
25:48:00
mean Good Morning America or one of
25:49:00
those talk shows as you said
25:50:00
make-or-break instant wow these are is
25:54:00
there I get a lot of a lot of inventors
25:56:00
that want to go to some of the award
25:59:00
shows things in that sense of those
26:01:00
things that are they helpful to go to
26:02:00
those it's a lot of money you mean to
26:05:00
get like in the gift bags yeah yeah and
26:07:00
I don't know I always tell people try it
26:11:00
on your own first
26:13:00
I don't know anybody who's invested the
26:16:00
money gotten their thing in there and
26:17:00
then had a celebrity where because at
26:20:00
the end of the day you need the picture
26:22:00
you need the photograph of the celebrity
26:24:00
wearing your product or writing you a
26:27:00
thank-you note I have a old client who
26:29:00
is an amazing beauty line and
26:31:00
Angelina Jolie wrote her a note and said
26:34:00
oh I love your product closer she has
26:36:00
that but you know unless that happens it
26:42:00
who cares so you put it in a goodie bag
26:44:00
but unless they're photographed in it or
26:46:00
thank you for it there's no value
26:49:00
associated with it what's the ROI oh I
26:51:00
sent my thing in a celebrity goodie bag
26:53:00
oh yeah and you're right and that's why
26:57:00
again you know somebody like yourself
26:58:00
you can really keep somebody on track
27:00:00
and point them in the right direction
27:01:00
because you know every inventor every
27:03:00
every product developers they have an
27:06:00
idea of who their target market might be
27:08:00
and a lot of times it's not really that
27:10:00
NYX that that there should go for right
27:12:00
right and there are so many people out
27:15:00
there and and I have a book you can read
27:17:00
my story there are so many people out
27:19:00
there trying to take advantage of
27:20:00
inventors be careful just because it has
27:24:00
a celebrity name associated with it
27:26:00
please do your homework you know my
27:29:00
program is is a monthly very small fee
27:32:00
and you can ask questions and do things
27:34:00
these things are like fifteen thousand
27:36:00
dollars and people are you know getting
27:38:00
their last credit card or taking a
27:40:00
mortgage out on their house to get a
27:42:00
video made that I have a former client
27:45:00
it was just and she was really smart she
27:47:00
went on LinkedIn and started asking
27:48:00
buyers would it be beneficial what would
27:52:00
you want to work with me more if I had a
27:54:00
video with X that's very smart and that
27:58:00
gets you in front of them and you're
27:59:00
asking a question and engaging hmm but
28:03:00
she actually when I talked about
28:04:00
LinkedIn and having a good profile she
28:07:00
met the president of a national company
28:09:00
on LinkedIn and long story short they're
28:12:00
gonna carry her products and they're
28:15:00
gonna start manufacturing for her at
28:16:00
their factory in China all because she
28:19:00
works her butt off she's amazing but
28:22:00
going on LinkedIn finding the right
28:24:00
people trying to see like hey I have
28:25:00
this products you know but she asked
28:27:00
that one question and that opened the
28:29:00
dialogue yeah I think it is it's the way
28:32:00
to do it engage you know you're not just
28:33:00
you just don't hit somebody with you
28:35:00
know what can you do for me right away
28:36:00
you know so that's really cool now see I
28:39:00
we only got a few more minutes
28:40:00
um what is the best way for someone not
28:42:00
only to maybe check out these services
28:44:00
that you have but
28:44:00
you can't get in touch with you yeah
28:46:00
Christina Dave's calm now links to
28:48:00
everything you can see my product you
28:50:00
can go to PR for anyone and there's
28:52:00
Christina at PR for anyone PR for anyone
28:55:00
anywhere and that you'll find me Twitter
28:59:00
just go out your house and yell no that
29:08:00
is so great and and I love the service
29:10:00
that you're offering because even if I
29:12:00
do want to do 90% of things on my own
29:14:00
it's just those 10% that I need to get
29:17:00
over that hump route that when I really
29:19:00
need when something super important
29:21:00
don't skimp don't do it on your own if
29:23:00
you don't know what you're doing you
29:24:00
have to bring somebody like yourself on
29:25:00
because that 10% is gonna take you over
29:27:00
the fence it's very important to do that
29:29:00
and 450 bucks ask a question or you know
29:33:00
sign up all your questions I a mile up
29:35:00
the Q&A; and but yeah just before don't
29:39:00
make mistakes like I did like I said the
29:41:00
books out there it's but it will I mean
29:43:00
I spent a lot of money with a retail
29:46:00
product development specialist who did
29:49:00
nothing and I was stuck in a contract
29:51:00
and couldn't get out and and again
29:53:00
you're we all do you know I don't even
29:57:00
like corner mistakes we're learning but
29:58:00
it cost resources but you know you you
30:01:00
learned I mean you obviously overcame it
30:03:00
and a lot of us inventors you know we
30:05:00
want to try to do it on our own to learn
30:07:00
but if it's an imperative thing
30:10:00
Etra mental you know bring on the right
30:12:00
people on my own and now I can help
30:22:00
other people which is what I really love
30:23:00
to do yeah well we could tell I mean I
30:25:00
could tell just when you're talking
30:27:00
about it your smile and you love helping
30:28:00
the people and your show is awesome
30:30:00
if anybody listen you know definitely
30:32:00
tune into the Christina she does a great
30:34:00
job and it's a lot I can see you're
30:36:00
having fun demonstrating the products
30:38:00
you do you ever practice you must be
30:40:00
like I gotta practice this no but for
30:43:00
next time I do have to practice cuz I've
30:44:00
got to curl my hair it's this curly
30:46:00
thing when I won't have a mirror and I
30:48:00
gotta shave my leg with this extension
30:51:00
so I might have to practice those a
30:52:00
little my leg yeah you believe it on
30:58:00
that
31:00:00
maybe I should demo a new band-aid all
31:05:00
right Christina thank you so much for
31:06:00
being a show today if any of you
31:09:00
listeners want to be in touch with
31:11:00
Christine and I totally recommend you do
31:13:00
you know go out to her websites you know
31:15:00
definitely just give her a certain do
31:17:00
you search on Google you'll definitely
