looking at the sneaker for the next year

it was amazing to me that they're that

busy they have review periods for lots

if you're a buyer for Footwear it's not

just sneakers I mean could be adult

boots it could be maybe maybe the

retailer could buy a whole bunch of

different things within their category

and they can't look at I mean from their

organizational standpoint they can't

in front of a buyer it's not tricky and

looking to trick you or fool you

they're super busy these guys are

looking at products every day and if

you're lucky enough for them to send you

several years ago I mean I I made a

mistake I was doing a product for Home

Depot and they asked me to create a box

kind of like you talked about the stack

out but it was just a small box that

held these handle type products in it

and they just put it on the floor and

they asked me to make the box and I said

oh great it's gonna be awesome I

get up kind of breaking even on it I

didn't make enough money because I made

a mistaken and equating the box costs

and it was good in the long run I made

out because I was buying more volume so

my other sales I could get a better

price on the product but if that was my

only retailer I would have basically

broken even for all that work and and

it's it's very tricky if you don't look

at that paperwork and fill it out

kind of lost on EDI so I don't know if

it's something and you can help with it

stands for electronic data interchange I

think that's what it stands for but

basically it's it's software and I'm

kind of making this simplified for time

but when you get set up with a retailer

most of the major retailers will not fax

purchase orders anymore they don't send
32:23:00
them in the mail it's gone and have been
32:26:00
gone actually for a long time so instead
32:29:00
of them emailing you purchase orders and
32:32:00
handling the correspondence of returns
32:34:00
and all that they there is a bunch of
32:37:00
software out there that allows the
32:40:00
retailer to communicate with you it's a
32:42:00
third-party software so this way and
32:46:00
it's it is a universal language so
32:47:00
there's coded numbers for every
32:49:00
transaction so like purchase orders have
32:51:00
a number of returns I have a number you
32:53:00
know all that stuff so they asked you to
32:55:00
get setup on whatever
32:57:00
EDI a software program they use a
33:00:00
commerce hub is a big one so like you
33:03:00
know that's fine some of those they all
33:04:00
use that and what they do but you have
33:06:00
to pay for it and a you know they charge
33:09:00
you to get set up on it and there's some
33:12:00
monthly fees but yeah if it can be
33:14:00
tricky to use and at the very least it's
33:16:00
good to have somebody help you
33:17:00
understand how to use it and sometimes
33:19:00
they offer training like when you buy
33:21:00
the software the company will offer
33:23:00
training but
33:24:00
it's not something you can just go on
33:27:00
and learn how to do on your own quickly
33:28:00
I mean you can't screw it up because
33:29:00
this is how all the information between
33:31:00
you and the retailer all the
33:32:00
communication is going to happen this
33:34:00
way when it comes to orders no yeah so
33:37:00
it's definitely something that you know
33:39:00
if the person here who Jamie wrote in

needs information on that instead we can

we can provide that or people that can
33:47:00
help but yeah you don't want to go this

alone what you learn how to use the EDI

you can use it but it's a language you

it's important because to me it's it's

how you get paid yeah I mean if you

don't submit and acknowledge like when

they send the purchase or they send it

through this system you have to

acknowledge it and then you have to when

you ship it you have to let you know

acknowledge that it was shipped and then

provide shipping information and and but
34:14:00
it's cool because you can see

information in their systems like sales

real-time sales are the products moving
34:19:00
when the inventories getting low is a
34:21:00
lot of benefits to using these systems
34:23:00
so you know they can't just email you
34:25:00
all this stuff so that these retailers
34:27:00
have set this Universal system to
34:29:00
communicate see this is yet another
34:30:00
thing people don't realize yeah you
34:33:00
don't always have to use it sometimes
34:35:00
you can get out of it little hint here
34:37:00
you just have like one product they
34:39:00
don't think it's big volume some but
34:40:00
some retailers actually require you have
34:42:00
to get set up on EDI to do business with
34:45:00
them yeah exactly and and these are the
34:48:00
kind of things that people don't realize
34:49:00
until they've spoken with the buyer the
34:51:00
buyer is interested and all sudden they
34:53:00
get hit with this form and they have all
34:55:00
of these things and we'll cover all
34:56:00
kinds of stuff that they need in the
34:57:00
next shows like like insurance enter in

the right packaging and depending on on
35:02:00
the type of product if they have to have
35:05:00
some kind of certifications we'll go all

for all that it's really important to do

it the right way

can conduct business once you have that

amongst other things you'll need but

that's that's your big thing is you get

that vendor number you're now capable
35:58:00
and exist in their world to do business
